BBC Tomorrow's World: 'Dog'
Auto-exposure by Tim Macmillan
Using a 360 degree 301-frame
camera, a sequence was shot to illustrate the Tomorrow's World
feature of the camera and technique (May 1993).
The dog created a strong reaction many people phoned in to
the BBC because they imagined the dog to be dead! This highlights
one phisiological aspect of the effect when it was first broadcast
people were seeing something completely outside their understanding
up to that point. Now the technique has become more ubiquitous there
is less of a comprehension gap.
