A surreal mermaid story filmed on Location in Almeria, southern Spain, April 1997.

'Josephine' sequences were intercut with regular live-action filmed on 16mm. The film premiers the 'forwards-backwards' shot - time reverses half way through a tracking shot (see the bird sequence). Multiple plates shot with 'Josephine' were also composited together to create lighting and water texture mattes which were applied throughout the film.
