TimeSlice Films – Demoreel 2009
 
This demoreel was cut together specifically for the Canon Pro Photo Solutions Expo 2009 – highlighting all of our combined skills, from Time-Slice® Effects through to our Moving Image Design.

Bespoke animations for the live studio screens through-out the show…

We were commissioned to design a graphics package which would be flexible enough to carry the variety of dance styles and music genre’s this hit primetime SKY1 show presented us. We worked closely with the lighting and creative directors producing a package which gave the lighting department the possibility to light each act as differently as possible but keeping within the ‘house’ style. We worked with some unusual resolutions and conflicting technical outputs but were able to deliver a variety of outputs from floors to walls and side screens. The final result enhances each act without detracting from them, giving each performance the space and subtly each dance demanded – a tall order with such a huge expanse of screens within the set – pixel power to the maximum!

Sister show to the hit format from Fox Broadcast in the States, presented by Cat Deeley, So You Think You Can Dance has taken the UK by storm.

TimeSlice films was asked to capture the varied & dynamic range of dance styles brought to the series by it’s group of 14 finalists. Although mainly dancing in pairs for the live shows, only one person can win the title of the UK’s favorite dancer. This in turn meant each finalist had to be filmed individually. Sticking to a tight one day schedule, time pressures were never far from mind, Andy Milk our head camera man had his work cut out ensuring each dancer was captured at the perfect moment. However, all 14 finalists had time to perform & with near instant review of shots on-set, confidence was high, leaving everyone pleased with the results. The shots themselves will be re-purposed across different media, allowing them to be used as indents & stings for broadcast as well as for interactive & web.

Dancing On Ice – Series 5 Titles

Dancing On Ice is now in its 5th Series and to celebrate our continued relationship with this fabulous primetime show we were all very excited to be given the opportunity to refresh the existing brand by re-mastering the titles and graphical content. We re-built in HD, graded the piece with strong midnight blues and rich purples giving the over all piece a contemporary, confident & slick final look.

Healthier Scotland – ‘Steps For Stress’

Several Time-Slice® frozen moment created for Cask Productions.

We were commissioned to work on this Health campaign for Scotland and shot a variety of Time-Slice® moments during a 1 day shoot in Glasgow. The final piece is a strong mix of Time-Slice®, fake-slice and live action passes which have cut together seamlessly. A great piece which really showcases the flexibility and intimate effect our 25 camera mini-rig can achieve.

Coming Of Age – Title Sequence

For the returning second series of their hit BBC Three sitcom we were asked to design a funky & contemporary Title sequence animation to give the show a fresh new look and feel. To highlight the cast’s various characteristics & personalities, and to keep costs low, we decided to use a selection of stills to create a stop-motion animated feel and to illustrate the various key locations within the series we created CGI versions of Ollie’s Shed and the College they all attend. It was a very creative and fun project to work on.

We were also approached to create a few key visual effects sequences within the series – firstly a quick zoom in through Ollie’s ear canal and into his brain and secondly an elaborate zoom out from planet Earth, through space and upto a pair of Extra-Terrestrials watching and laughing the show on their state-of-art alien TV set.

The Future Of Finance – CNBC / The FT commercial
 
This was a little CGI commercial to cross promote both CNBC and The Financial Times as they both produce content in their retrospective mediums for a new TV series and a special newspaper supplement called “The Future of Finance…”

Cat Clothing / Fold7 – Earthmovers
 
One of our favourite pieces to date, this spot has been created for a cinema campaign based on a billboard run of the same style. The Time-Slice technique was used as a natural progression to capture three dimensional versions of the type of photography used in the stills campaign. We filmed at 1/1000th of a second with constant lighting to match-in with a hi-speed Phantom camera also running at 1000 frames per second, this enabled some really nice time ramps and live action match-ins.
