5 Time-Slice® sequences shot out in South Africa for a Canon website
We were approached by CDP to shoot and post-produce a series of Time-Slice® shots for their client Canon, who were launching a new micro-site for Euro 2008. The core concept was to deliver basic tips for amateur sports photography. The Time-Slice® effect worked perfectly for this, allowing users to interactively move around a scene in 3D, whilst being able to click on hot spots and receive key photography tips relating to the action happening in that scene. With the shoot scheduled for January, we were happily shipped to South Africa for best available light. We shot 5 Time-Slice® moments on varying rigs; horizontal and vertical moves to a diagonal sweep through a tree canopy. The camera array and bespoke software worked well in the heat, with the rigs sometimes sat in direct sunlight for many hours the cameras seemed to be more heat resistant than some of the crew! During post-production we replaced the existing ball in many of the shots with a CGI Euro 2008 football, added frozen particle systems to certain scenes and then stitched together all 5 pieces and gave it a final grade.
